A New Visitor Experience at Ford House

The new Visitor Center and Administration Building are set to open May 26, 2021.

With the construction of new Visitor Center and Administration buildings, Ford House will enhance the experience for our visitors, preserve the historic core of estate, and expand our environmental focus.

This is the first major alteration to the estate in 25 years, and the largest new construction since the home was built.

THE NEW VISITOR CENTER

The new 40,000-square-foot Visitor Center is a two-story building, with space for enhancing the orientation, education and overall experience for Ford House visitors.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION

Relocating our operational activities to a specially designed administration building will take that heavy use out of the house. It will also allow us the opportunity to restore historic spaces, including those that once housed the staff quarters.  Once restored, we will be able to bring to life the ‘behind the scenes’ story of the estate.

SUSTAINABILITY

Both of the new buildings are designed to demonstrate sustainability best practices.
